Diagnosis

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is certified and trained to diagnose across the lifespan. This means children to elderly are able to be seen at Comprehensive Family Mental Healthcare.  There is a genetic component with certain mental illnesses and families members can be affected. We can treat family members, but will not disclose any information to anyone unless this is requested in writing.

A correct diagnosis is integral to proper treatment. We will perform an in-depth assessments and use screening tools to identify the appropriate condition. This is most often identified on the initial visit. At times, this may not always be as clear on the initial visit. By the second visit and with input from your loved ones, a correct diagnosis can be established to help you in your path to recovery from mental illness.
